See you all in a week!
Aug. 8th, 2011 10:50 amCAMP starts today! Tonight, actually, at 7 pm, but you know. :P
My church camp is pretty strange and not at all like what you're thinking. We call it "family camp" because it runs programs for all ages all at once. So there are conferences for the adults, activities for preschoolers, activities for elementary kids, and activities/conferences for the teens & young adults all going at once on different parts of the campground. The campground itself consists mostly of cottages and/or vacant lots for tents and trailers, as opposed to cabins. So we prepare our own meals as a family and take care of our own beds as a family, but we are doing activities as a church during the day (and, for the youth, until midnight. We usually do a literal "Timmies Run" every night. That is a joke you probably won't get if you don't understand a canadian's devotion to Tim Horton's. (Mmm, Iced Cappucinos :D ) Every evening we meet in the tabernacle for an evening service, so that's kind of when the whole church comes together. We don't have a ton of people there, usually around 200 or so, but we have a lot of fun and try to get to know everyone as best we can. I've been going to this camp yearly since I was born (there are pictures of 9-month-old me in a stroller at camp), and I've only missed one year, (last year, due to the HSC). This is pretty much the hilight of the year for me and is better than Christmas, as far as I'm concerned. ;)
Anyways, sims wise I won't be doing much. While I am taking my laptop, there is no internet access on the camp ground so I won't be going on any downloading sprees or keeping in touch with you. I will be back either Saturday afternoon or Sunday afternoon, depending on how insane life is when I get back. I have plans to participate in the latest
maxis_taste dare, but it kind of turned into a mini story, so I will likely end up tweaking my original idea. If I can get enough planned for that, I might actually find myself writing for sims again, since premade stories seem to be really "in" right now. Neither the Gleeks nor the Gratiaes interested me as much as the Desjardines did and I'm still disappointed that I didn't get that backed-up properly. I might find myself continuing them if I get bored.
I also have a few CC projects I'd like to work on, and if I get time at CAMP I might do that. I have a ton of unfinished projects sitting in my CC-creations folder, many of which will likely never see the light of day. :P (speaking of which, care to check out my CiJ Secret Santa gift for Rurouni-Idoru? )
Anyways, have a great week everyone, don't post too much for me to miss out on while I'm gone!

missbubbles1321 's baby girl Annabelle was born on Tuesday, July 19th at 8:32 PM, weighing 5.5 lbs (2.5 kilos). She was born via c-section, and is 10 weeks early. For a preemie, she is doing well, though there were some minor complications. Bubbles should be out of the hospital in the next 2-3 days, but Annabelle is going to be in NICU for another 6-10 weeks.
Congratulations to Bubbles and her fiance, Derric! The three of you will be in my thoughts and prayers. :)

The Creative Genius of a Fifth-Grader
Jun. 30th, 2011 12:23 pmSo my Mom was going through some boxes my Grandma had in storage and she found a little green notebook with a poem in it. A poem that I wrote around grade five. Because I want it in a digital format (though you really can't beat my handwriting when I was ten :P ) I figured I'd type it up for a laugh.

Me again! :)
Jan. 3rd, 2011 04:11 pmChristmas was great! :) I got Glee CDs, moar Webkinz (the game was made for kids, but it's so addictive and the animals are about as cute as toddler picspam, but even more huggable! xD ), and I gave my aunt a list of the Sims EPs I don't have (Seasons, Bon Voyage, Freetime, Apartment Life) as a gift idea, and she got me AL. Which is almost worse, because now I know exactly what I was missing with BV and FT, and I still don't have Seasons. Next trip to town I am definitely spending my Christmas money from my Dad on Seasons. ("This feature will allow you to ______ when you buy the Sims 2 Freetime") Grrface. Don't get me wrong though, I am grateful for it...
I am going to try to load up Desjardine Springs just to look around, keeping the backup copied safely in case something fiery and bad shows up someplace. Maybe it will give me a better idea of what I was doing way back when...
I have a shiny laptop, got it just before Christmas. It has a graphics card - not an amazing one but my sims don't blurr randomly and loading time is so much shorter than it was on Toshy. My new laptop is called "Howie", in case you were wondering. ;) Also, since I haven't really been motivated to play I have been downloading like a madwoman. All-About-Style is going to hate me for eating up her bandwidth, but that's probably what I've done as I think I have nearly downloaded her entire site. Then I was very sad when I found out Rissa's site was down - I loved her recolours so much and I don't think I'll be able to get Emily's hairstyle back exactly as it had been. I'll probably be gracing the lost and found thread at boolprop before too long...
Then I decided to give ACR a whirl so I played a few Maxis premades to try that out. Veronaville really doesn't get much attention, but I'm really liking it at the moment.
So my playing has been more experimental than constructive. I really don't want to try anything serious until I get Seasons installed again.
I've applied for a few more jobs, but nothing promising yet. There was a diner on the highway that actually is hiring, to my shock and surprise, but I think they're looking for someone older than me to do the waitressing stuff. Also, I have a friend who is in charge of new recruits at SubWay. She can't hire me now, but she said that if I'm still looking for employment in March, she'll take me. I guess that's something.
I should be getting the first of my uni offers over the next few weeks. Fingers are crossed for UNSW. :)
Anyways, I hope everyone had a happy New Year's Day! What have you all been up to for the past few weeks?
