So my Mom was going through some boxes my Grandma had in storage and she found a little green notebook with a poem in it. A poem that I wrote around grade five. Because I want it in a digital format (though you really can't beat my handwriting when I was ten :P ) I figured I'd type it up for a laugh.

The relatives are coming... )

So I got my hot little hands on photoshop a couple days ago, and thought "Yay, colour actions = easy recolours!" uh, yeah, not so much. :P I was trying to recolour that freetime dress with the apron and the apron keeps coming out too dark and because of the lace it's impossible to cut it out and fix it. :P After adding flats to said dress, [livejournal.com profile] missbubbles1321 asked me to upload my recolours. :P I'm not sure if I will, because I'm not terribly pleased with them. I'm full of ideas, I'm just not familliar enough with the tools to do what I want.

Also, I know [livejournal.com profile] julessims was looking for child versions of alovingdiva's uniform: in case you haven't found it, Jaccirocker made them for me, and we're just waiting for Marja to finish defaulting them, here. I am really excited for them, too. :)

Hanging out at GOS has really made me wish I knew how to do more than just recolour. But I can't even do that properly. :P

Okay, so it's been in SimSecret forever and now I find out it's something at boolprop? *is lost*

I didn't pay any attention to the Golden Plumbbob Awards because I am so out of touch with everything and wouldn't be able to make an educated and informed decision on anything. :P Yes, I knew it was going on and everything, but to me the community is more on livejournal than at boolprop nowadays, if that makes any sense at all. So I just wasn't watching. But I still consider boolprop, of all the sims 2 fansites out there, my stomping ground. So can someone please tell me what, or who, is the clique? 'Cuz I'm confuzzled. I remember there being things like "My legacy will never be popular because I'm not as cool as ______" or whatevs, which never made sense to me because usually they were comparing their legacies to stories that had been ongoing for a year or two already and thus had time to amass a following. I was really, really stoked to get the eight (EIGHT!) comments I did get on boolprop for the gleeks. Is this like that, or different?

From a very confused Jane.

Okay, so I was looking through my computer, transferring files to my new external harddrive, and lo and behold I came across a folder in another folder in 'my documents' labelled 'The sims 2 misc.' Inside it, I found some graphics, some chapters, and another folder called 'Nhood backups'. And in there, I fould a backup of 'Desjardine Springs.'

I could've kissed myself, except that would have been wrong. I am scared to put it into my game, especially since it requires Seasons and I don't want to bug it up. But I guess, if there's a copy of the backup somewhere, it should be fine... If this works, and if it's exactly how I left it (or even an earlier version of Desjardine Springs, though judging by the storytelling photos in the file, it's the most recent).

I don't know when exactly I'll be able to upload. Grandpa has promised to help be buy a new laptop (probably early next year, when I get a job), but he has also asked something else of me. The computer he has had for the past nine years has finally gone kaput, and so next week, he expects me to help him go shopping for a new computer for himself. Now I do intend to play fair and only help him get one that he needs, with no extra bells and whistles he doesn't need, but gee, wouldn't it be nice if the new shiny could run the Sims 2?

Grandpa has a lot planned for me actually. Besides a new computer, he wants me to help him find a hi-speed internet package for a good price, and then Mom went and got him a kindle for Christmas/Birthday/Grandma's Birthday/Anniversary (they all happen at the same time) which he is completely confused with. And every time I talk to them on the phone, they make sure to tell me that they're "really, really looking forward to having you here with us." Which is very sweet. And in a week, I'll be with them, and not here with my family. I may not see them for six months to a year, which is saddening and exciting all at once.

Tonight, we went to my Aunt's and Uncle's, and since my Uncle (married to Dad's sister) won't be coming to the farewell on Thursday night, this was goodbye for us. And Uncle John is a big, rough tradesman who I'm sure loves his kids and is a great grandfather to his grandkids, but who I honestly don't know terribly well. But he wrapped me in a giant bear hug and I nearly cried. I am so excited to go back to be with the family and friends I left behind in Canada, but it wasn't until today that I realized that yeah, I will miss my family here when I'm there as much as I miss my family there when I'm here. I just can't win...

Anyways, back to simming: I spent the day reading the chapters that I have up on the exchange already, which was fun. But there are some plots that I've hinted at that I can't for the life of me remember what I'd planned on doing with them (mainly, something about Émilie). Also, every apostrophe shows up as a question mark in the later chapters, which is more than a little bit annoying. I'm going to have to edit and re-upload them when I get the chance. For now, I have to worry about real life stuff. Like packing, because I leave on Friday and I haven't really started that part yet...

My plan for getting caught up is to go into your livejournal archives and starting from a few months before I dropped off the planet (around Feb. 2009) and reading from there. I have nearly finished Mystery and Dicreasy, and hope to move onto Junebug soon. If you didn't post on livejournal when you had uploaded a chapter, I might get lost or confused (but I'll keep tabs on the boolprop thread, just in case). I haven't been commenting on any current posts because I don't want to be too spoilered...
